First you need to find the right place to dig your hole, which for this means finding an Atresian Basin - the only place for a well such as this. An Atresian Basin is an area where a porous layer of rock is sanwiched between non-porous layers in a geological formation in the shape of a basin.

Rain falls on an exposed part of the porous rock, near the top of the basin shape, and the water is absorbed then flows down to the bottom of the basin through the force of gravity, where it cannot escape because it is trapped inside the porous rock which is itself trapped between two layers of non-porous rock.

All you need to do is drill down at the bottom of the basin until you tap into the porous rock, through the upper layer of non-porous rock, and the water will come gushing out like a fountain!
